Can anyone see how on earth Glen Johnson is in the initial world cup squad he is awful responsible for many goals that Liverpool have conceded this season.

Another player which is a surprise to me is Shaun Wright-Phillips why?!!

Bad scenes at Hillsborough as well both Sheffield Wednesday fans and Crystal Palace fans needed to be seperated by police. Palace defender Clint Hill required the protection of stewards as he headed to the dressing room as well absolutly pathetic scenes.

Ugly scenes at Kenilworth Road today after York beat Luton 1-0 and secured a 2-0 aggregate victory. The York players needed to protect themselves amongst the stewards to avoid missiles being thrown from the Luton fans.

There is no need of this disgusting scenes.

Despite a nervy display in their 1-1 draw at home to bristol city swansea's inability to score has cost them dearly. A win would have seen them make the play offs but once again they could not score.

Before the game I would have been quite glad for Barcelona to go through given the italians passion for playing defensive football but having seen the blatent cheating on show to get the inter player sent off I am more than happy with the result.

The sooner this vile behavior is stamped out the better well done inter for holding on.

Yahoo! will be screening five minute highlight packages of every Premiership League match from next season via http://www.yahoo.co.uk

Highlights will be shown at midnight on Sunday after weekend matches and at midnight the same day following midweek games.

Yahoo! say the service will be supported by advertising but how intrusive will this advertising be to tempt people to click on it? I'm all for online content but I don't want to watch football whilst being bombarded with advertising.

The Jacks won't be happy, sitting in the play offs for a vast majority of the season and now Blackpool overtake them. Will they make it? Blackpool have Bristol City at home next week, win and they make the play offs whatever Swansea do.

I think Bristol are in with a chance mind they will want a win after a disappointing season.

It has been reported today that Portsmouth are £119M in debt quite unbelievable spending by a club with a small ground thus limited revenue.

Crystal Palace are in administration, Cardiff City not far off and Plymouth also in trouble in the Championship but who is to blame? Naive or irresponsible chairmen (any one mention Peter Ridsdale?), fans expectations that fuel the irresponsible chairmen. Or is it the premier league who's riches and fans desire to see their club succeed fuel all the problems here?

Why on earth have Uefa decided to go ahead with this weeks Europa ties with the travel chaos across Europe? Liverpool are travelling to Madrid by train (1,200 miles away!) whilst Fulham have to endure a difficult 11-hour trip by coach and Eurotunnel to Hamburg in Germany for their first leg tie.

This is just madness why on earth cant the ties be put back a week?

Perhaps with Liverpool out of the Champions League next season the price will be cheaper?

At a canter in the end how will they do in the Prem next season though? They have a good squad but it must need investment so will Mike Ashley invest given the antics of last season?

If he does play in the world cup and plays even to half of his potential the lack of Champions League football at Liverpool may well see him move on.

Torres underwent knee surgery yesterday with the rehabilitation around six weeks which takes us close to the world cup. I'm sure he will be in the Spanish squad but how fit will he be and will all this football effect his Liverpool form next season (if he is still at Anfield of course)!

At last the American owners of Liverpool have at last put the club up for sale but will they be reasonable in selling the club or will they hold Liverpool to ransom with a ridiculous asking price?

Lets hope whoever buys Liverpool will have the clubs interest at heart rather than eyeing a quick profit

After ofcom's decision to make Sky sell its sports channels cheaper to rival cable channels it looks like the premier league is to mount a challenge. I don't see why Sky should have to do so myself, they provid quality coverage which costs them plenty of money so why should other broadcasters reap these rewards when they are not prepared to invest so much money into the game themselves?

Jose Mourinho is confident that Steven Gerrard will quit Liverpool and join the Italian champions Inta Milan next season. I cant see this being true OK Liverpool will not be in the Champions League next season by surly Italian football is a 'backwater' compared to the Premiership and La Liga?

In an article on BBC news today http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/p/portsmouth/8616728.stm Portsmouth's Richard Hughes has been talking about the bonuses that are due to be paid to Pompey players because they have reached the FA cup final -

"I'm one of the players reported to not be allowed to play, but I've been through my contract and there's nothing in it to say I cannot play," he said.

"I think the most likely thing that would happen is what is happening now at the club, where all the appearance money and bonuses are deferred to a later date when a new owner is in place.

Am I missing something? Mr Hughes you are a highly paid footballer and Portsmouth will not be on a sound financial footing for a long time can you not waive your payment completely? Isn't the chance to appear in the FA cup final not enough for you?

OK so it looks like Benitez is not going to get Liverpool into the top 4 abd into the champions league. Is this the end of the road for him? Will he resign or be sacked, can Liverpool afford to sack him?

The way it is going Liverpool may not even make Europe next season. Forth place looks like Man Cities to lose now

I can't see it this time we have weathered a patch with a depleted squad and we now have players coming back ready for the final push. I would also like to think that the chasing pack had a bit more quality last year plus the chasing pack still have some tough games to come.

I think with our home game against Sheffield Wednesday we should be OK. (I say with great confidence!)

Did anyone see that coming well done for Portsmouth for overturning Spurs but now the players have to agree to waive there bonus for reaching the final.

I would hope that all these players won't think twice about this, the chance to play in a FA Cup final most players would jump at the chance!

Cardiff City find themeselves in an incredibly strong position going into today's home game against Reading - or are we?

This time last year (4 games to go) things were even better. We were on 72pts with a very realistic chance of catching Birmingham in 2nd (77pts) for the last auto place as we also had a game in hand over them.

The teams chasing the play-off places (Swansea & Preston) had also played a game more than us and were 8 points adrift of us in 4th. We had a goal differenvce of +22 whilst Swansea were +14 and Preston +4.

And then we went to Preston - I need say no more!

This year with 4 games to go we are on 69pts and again in 4th place however we have no chance of an automatic spot so a play off place it should be. That said we are only 6pts clear of Blackpool with a goal difference of +19 compared to Blackpools +16.

I'm still confident but will be far happier stood having a jar after the game today if we've beaten Reading and Blackpool have lost at Newcastle!

We can't mess up again - can we?

This has got to be one of Chris Kamara's classic moments on Soccer Saturday when he completely missed the sending off of Portsmouth player Anthony Vanden Borre. Even non football fans will appreciate the funny side of this one as Kammy looks totally bemused when the camera is turned on him! To rub salt into the wound Kammy seems to think that Vanden Borre was substituted rather than sent off.

Its a classic clip so enjoy!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H8gKmQ6Hrro&feature=player_embedded

How does he get away with it? Any other manager would be under severe disciplinary action with FIFA for is what can only be described as a racist slur against the Germans. His talk of 'typical German behaviour' shouldn't go down with to well with authorities outside of the football world either.

He is hardly in a position to criticise either, his players are notoriously bad for surrounding referees to influence their decisions so perhaps before he makes comments like that he should get his own house in order first.

A truely great performance smashing in four goals against Arsenal.

The whole Barcelona team were fantastic but could Messi's four goal haul go down as one of the best individual performances in the Champions league? Better than Gerrards in the final?

Well it doesn't come as much of a surprise that Avram Grant has been appointed Portsmouth manager. The writing for poor old Paul Hart was on the wall as soon as he arrived. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/footbal ... 378603.stm

What a great reminder to players that the game lasts until the referee blows his final whistle? Late goals against Lyon have cost Liverpool dear the only other team I can think of that routinely switch off after 90 minutes is Cardiff City!

However late goals they may have been it does not disguise the fact that Liverpool's squad is not good enough. Get Gillette and Hicks out of the club!

With what he has been given to work with it is unfair and to be fair Portsmouth have been a bit unlucky in some games they have played quite well.
